Hilton Frankfurt City Centre - Best Frankfurt Luxury Hotel Review

THE BEST ROOM-WITH-A-VIEW AT THE BEST LUXURY HOTEL IN FRANKFURT

Which is the best room with the view you've stayed in? Yeah, that's a difficult question with views of mountains and seas and starry night-sky.... Let me make it more precise. Which is the best room with the view you've stayed in the middle of the city? For me, its hands-down the King Executive room with Panoramic Views at Hilton Frankfurt City Centre.

I have fond memories of Frankfurt. 10 years ago, Frankfurt was the first ever European city I landed at, and that was for the Heimtextil Fair at Messe Frankfurt, as a textile designer. After 10 years, I was back in Frankfurt again, this time as traveler, on a long weekend from Brussels, to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the region. More about those sites coming up in the next few posts...

The Messe Frankfurt fairgrounds holds more than 140 trade fairs annually that attracts more than a lakh (100 thousand) exhibitors & a whopping 40 lakh (4 million) visitors. So yes, this city is super busy all the time!!! Frankfurt has an airport and a huge railway station. Messe is located very close to the central railway station called Frankfurt HauptBahnHof, which is excellently connected to very many European cities. Frankfurt is also super intra-connected with metro-like services called U Bahn & S Bahn. While staying near the airport is one option, the best option is ofcourse near the HauptBahnHof, and make the best use of public transport, as well as being at a walk-able distance or a short commute from Messe Frankfurt Fairgrounds.
Places to visit around Frankfurt (day-trips from Frankfurt with maximum 1:45hrs travel by train, one way): CologneAachen, Dusseldorf, Upper Middle Rhine Valley (Koblenz to Bingen/Rudesheim), Roman Limes (Idstein, Saalburg etc), Grube Messel Pit, Lorsch Abbey, Geopark BergstrasseOdenwald, Speyer cathedral
HOTEL HILTON FRANKFURT CITY CENTRE

Hilton Frankfurt City Centre is located 2km away from Frankfurt HauptBahnHof making it super easy to connect from/to your trains in & out of Frankfurt. The major shopping streets of Frankfurt, Zeil and Goethestraße are located very very close to the hotel. Galeria Kaufhof is located just 500m away. There are very many restaurants in the area and Ubereats functions here as well, if you crave particular cuisines. Ofcourse we ordered Indian food and had it with the spectacular view of the city.

This hotel was built in 1999 and is the oldest Hilton Hotel in Frankfurt. However some major renovations happened in 2018 and 2020 and the magnificent atrium, cool bar, lavish lobby and many more are very recent improvisations, making it one of the best 5 star hotels in Frankfurt.

The most striking feature of the hotel is the atrium as soon as you enter. The super high ceiling is just magnificent. There are 12 floors in the hotel. To look up at the sky through the glass ceiling with all the 12 floors in perspective around is definitely an interesting view. The elevators are on one side of the atrium and its glass walls lend an impeccable view of the lobby from atop!
There are 3 major room types in Hotel Hilton Frankfurt City Centre - Standard Guest rooms, Deluxe rooms & Executive rooms apart from Suite rooms. The Standard Guest rooms are the ones in the lower floors and Deluxe and Executive are in the higher floors that lend a good view unlike Standard rooms. There is no much difference between Deluxe and Executive rooms except some very fine aspects like flooring carpet, bath slippers etc. However the Executive rooms have free access to Hilton Executive lounge which has amenities like an office, but ideally, when your room has such splendid views you'd want to sit & work in the room. But it is definitely ideal to have some meetings. The rooms themselves also have work desk & chair with table lamp etc. Guests of Executive rooms also have priority check-in, check-out and complementary breakfast. There are 14 Suite rooms which are large incl. the Presidential suite being the largest. They have seating areas, sofas and connecting rooms, meant for large groups or families with children.
The Hilton King Executive room with Panoramic Views are the corner rooms of the top few floors with floor to ceiling windows on 2 sides of the room, lending unparalleled views of Frankfurt City. There are 22 such rooms. The best are the ones in the side of Bockenheimer Park which gives the views of both the cosmopolitan city as well as the greenery. We just couldn't bring ourselves to draw the curtains at night & we didn't need the night lamp - the glistening city lights was magical to keep staring at as we fell asleep!!!

HILTON FRANKFURT CITY CENTRE Amenities

All the rooms have all the basic amenities including TV, minibar, coffee machine, bath-robe, safety locker etc. There's a shower & bathtub in all rooms. The phone call to reception or house-keeping is responded almost immediately. Toiletries are in the room and other things like dental kit or medical kit are available on request. There are hand-gels everywhere. A hygiene kit with hand-gel & masks is also available on request. The entire hotel is wheelchair & stroller friendly.
One of the amusing things that I've not seen anywhere else is the retractable clothes-line over the bathtub. It was perfect to hang those cloth-diapers & swimsuits overnight to dry, which otherwise I usually hang on the side of the bathtub...

Breakfast can be had either at the common area or in your room. The common area is located in the ground floor and opens up to the outdoor-seating area overlooking the Bockenheimer Park. On bright sunny days, it is such a blessing to sit outside with the cool breeze from the trees & fountain here. While normally it is a buffet, currently with Covid measures, food is served at the table. Its the usual European platter with croissants, bagels, pancakes, cereals, eggs, cold-cuts, cheese etc. Vegetarian bagel as well as baked beans were available which made me happy (I'm tired of stuffing on bread in European hotels' breakfast buffet usually). But then when your room has a splendid view, it might just be a good idea to have a breakfast-with-a-view. There is no extra cost for in-room breakfast if your room rate includes breakfast.
The bar is located just opposite to the reception. It is one of the poshest places to hangout in Frankfurt or to have some informal, semi-formal meetings. It is very much possible to reserve a table in the bar whether or not you're a guest of the hotel. To just sit in this bar, sipping wine, looking up at the atrium covering all its 12 floors is just the best, while you are in the heart of a city.

Hilton Frankfurt city centre has one of the biggest fitness rooms in Europe. Actually the fitness centre chain, Fitness First, is located inside the premises of the  hotel. It has it own entrance for its members, but there's a direct entrance through the hotel making it accessible for the hotel guests. It has all the equipment of a regular gym as well as a huge 25m long, 6 track swimming pool, and a wellness area. The pool also has floaters, paddles etc as well as a couple of waterjets. The best part is that it is open till 11:00PM, making it the perfect option to unwind after a day's work. So, don't forget your swimsuit.

  • Unwind after your day's work, at the Bockenheimer Park behind the hotel. Walk around the park, looking at the ducks & herons near the fountain. Sleep on the grass looking at the sky! (You will have to call the hotel reception if you want to enter the hotel through the back door.)
  • As night falls, have your dinner in the room overlooking the glittering cityscape as the city lights-up.
  • Leave the card on the door handle for in-room breakfast service.
  • Begin day 2 with a splendid breakfast-with-a-view.
  • After work, wrap up day 2 soaking in the swimming pool and then have a couple of drinks at the bar.
  • Begin Day 3 with breakfast in the outdoor seating area, with the cool breeze and warm sun getting you refreshed for your day's work!

  1. The Hilton Frankfurt sounds like such a lovely place to stay! The view of the city from your room is gorgeous, with all of those huge windows. I love the outdoor spaces to enjoy a meal, and also the fitness facility and pool. So often hotels only have tiny, depressing workout rooms - but this one looks great! I'll definitely consider staying here if I visit Frankfurt.

  3. Hilton never fails to amaze me with their 5-star hotel stays! You had such an amazing view of the city from your room, I wouldn't have drawn the curtains either! The Bockenheimer Park looks like a lovely place to unwind with your family for some fresh air. I was also pretty impressed by the fitness room, as sometimes they can be small with little to no equipment. Frankfurt seems like a must-see destination for me and my family when in Germany. Thanks for sharing!

  4. I've only visited Frankfurt on a long layover. If I were to return, I'd definitely want to stay at Hilton Frankfurt, in the City Centre. The fact that the hotel is located so close to Frankfurt HauptBahnHof makes it really easy to connect with other destinations in Germany.

  5. You had me at the first picture with the wide open view of the city. It would be wonderful to wake up to a view like that. And then, I figured that this was a historic hotel as well, being the oldest in Frankfurt. And so full of character especially with that beautiful atrium. I would love to stay here when I visit Frankfurt next.
