Villianur Thirukkameeswarar Temple (Pondicherry aka Puducherry)

Villianur is a little town close to Pondicherry. Remember my trip to Sivaranthagam Banyan? Villianur is the nearest small town to Sivaranthagam village.
There are 3 important places of worship here. A Siva temple called Thirukkameeswarar Temple, a Vishnu temple called Varadharaja Perumal Devasthanam, a church called Villianur Madha Loordhu Church. I visited all 3 places. But sadly both the temples were under renovation and I could see hardly anything. There was just 1 Gopuram in the Siva temple which is worth a lot of mention. Here's more on the sculptural marvel of the same! Just pics... Enjoy...

And ofcourse my bird luck with ducks in the temple pond!

  2. Awesome pictures and sculptures in this relatively unknown temple! The picture of Kodi Pen and other details below Gopuram - is interesting. I saw exactly same sculpture in the entrance of a temple in Gingee and in an unfinished temple in Mahaballipuram.
